Dexatrim Overview

Anyone familiar with diets and weight loss pills will probably have heard of Dexatrim. The product, which some call a ‘veteran’ of the industry, has been around for over 25 years, although it’s formula has changed over the years.Dexatrim was one of the products that was part of the whole Ephedrine scare and, along with other products containing the dangerous ingredient, was recalled and subsequently banned. The company that makes Dexatrim was involved in quite a few lawsuits in regards to the Ephedrine ingredient and has since been reformulated and is back on the shelves. Dexatrim has a very attractive and informative website. There a number of different types of Dexatrim including the Dexatrim daytime appetite control, the nightime control, effervescent tablets and natural formula. All the formulas are designed to control the appetite and curb cravings and largely contain a lot of the same ingredients. The official website has a reasonably informative FAQ section plus a ‘Healthy Living Center’ which has links to other websites offering further health and diet information like the Mayo clinic and Cooking Light magazine. Video presentations are shown for the Dexatrim commercials and although there is no testimonials section, the website has links to the Dexatrim ‘Challenge’ on You Tube and the My Space Dexatrim community.

Dexatrim - Product Description

DexatrimDexatrim Max daytime appetite control contains a proprietary blend which includes green tea, oolong tea, ginseng, chromium, vitamins B6 and 12, niacin and riboflavin. The recommended dosage is 2 capsules per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The Dexatrim label warns that users may experience temporary side effects such as upset stomach, due to the high vitamin content, though this may be lessened by taking the pill with meals. Most of ingredients are designed to increase energy and boost the metabolism while the chromium is especially good at regulating blood sugar levels and thus curbing sugar cravings. When the product contained ephedrine, there was a danger of increases in strokes, the reason why it was banned, but even now the product label has warnings about the dangers from over use. For a product that bills itself as something to suppress the appetite, it is strange that it doesn’t contain Hoodia Gordonii, as none of the actual ingredients are especially good for this purpose.

Dexatrim Advantage

  • Dexatrim has been a familiar name in weight loss products for many years.
  • After the reformulation, there have been no complaints filed against the company or negative reviews.
  • The company website offers a money-off coupon.
  • The website has links to other health sites.
  • The product is very inexpensive, costing on average, about $15.00-$17.00 depending on the retailer.
  • The dosage is very easy to follow.

Dexatrim Drawbacks

  • Despite being reformulated the Dexatrim name is still linked with the Ephedrine scare.
  • The website doesn’t give the amounts of ingredients in the proprietary blend.
  • There is a lack of information regarding the ingredients in Dexatrim.
  • It doesn’t rate highly on any independent diet pill lists.
  • The website doesn’t show any information regarding a money back guarantee.
  • The pills may cause temporary unpleasant side effects.

Dexatrim - The Bottom Line

It is a shame that Dexatrim will likely forever be linked with Ephedrine as the new formula is all natural and safe to take if the manufacturer’s guidelines are followed. There is no doubt that this type of product should be used as part of a complete exercise and diet regime as there are no ingredients that have produced strong results, such as Hoodia. This would be the perfect product for anyone wanting to give their metabolism a little boost and curb cravings and between meal snacking without having to spend a fortune.
