Alli Overview

The Alli weight loss pill is fairly new to the dieting industry and has the advantage of being one of the few with FDA approval. The Alli website is extremely impressive and contains a fully comprehensive guide to the Alli weight loss program. Alli is marketed as more than just a diet pill – the company offer their customers many extras and encourages them to become involved with the entire Alli community. The community consists of customer forums, tips, feedback and weight loss support. The Alli website includes very detailed FAQ’s, answering questions on all aspects of the product. It offers videos of Alli ‘in action’, a guide to the Alli Starter Pack and a quiz, designed to help the potential customer determine if they are ready to lose weight (the makers of Alli seem to stress the importance of being ‘mentally’ ready and motivated to lose weight).

Alli - Product Description

AlliAlli is simply an over-the-counter form of Xenical, a prescription medication used to treat obesity. Alli contains 60mg of the FDA approved ingredient Orlistat. This ingredient is used to block fat and keep it from being absorbed into the body. Despite being such a simple pill, the instructions on how to take Alli are very specific. It is essential that Alli is taken at mealtimes (1 capsule 3 times per day) and that the meal contains some fat in order for Alli to work. If there is none, or very little fat in the meal, Alli should not be taken. Likewise, if the meal contains too much fat, it can lead to loose bowel movements and oil in the stool. It is also essential that a multi-vitamin is taken at night due to the fact that Alli can reduce the effectiveness of fat soluble vitamins in the body.

Alli - The Bottom Line

The makers of Alli have put a lot of effort into making their weight loss program accessible to everyone and certainly provide a lot of support for their customers. Many people who are in the process of losing weight find it most helpful to feel that they belong to a ‘community’ where they can receive feedback and support. Despite being an over-the-counter version of a prescription drug, Ali has received mixed reviews on independent websites. Most of the negative comments were regarding the potential side effects of the pill and the fact that maybe it didn’t quite live up to the hype surrounding it. However, the overall feeling seems to be that Alli is a serious new contender in the fight against obesity and, being one of the few FDA approved products, could definitely be recommended.
