It is found that vitamin E supplements and selenium supplements are of no help to prevent the deadly disease called prostate cancer. Rather it is found that it increases the risk of this disease.

A report has been submitted by National Cancer Institute researchers that they are going to stop the main study that decide if these pills are helpful in preventing prostate cancer. It is also found that more than 35,000 men in the age of 50 years and older than that are taking either both these pills or one of these supplements.

Since it is found that consuming either the pills or any of these pills ill not help them to prevent this deadly disease, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) has sent letters to the participants who participated in the study to stop consuming these pills. Moreover it was found that the men who were consuming Vitamin E pills alone were in fact getting this deadly disease called prostate cancer.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) also stressed on the fact that the statistics are not the significant proof that these pills are causing the risk in those who are taking these supplements or pills.

In some smaller studies that were taken earlier it was found that these vitamin E and selenium pill may prove to be helpful in combating this deadly prostate cancer disease. This was because these pills contain antioxidant compounds.

These compounds then intervene with the chemical reactions which have the ability to damage DNA and cells. Hence the researchers tried to go for the larger studies which helped them to draw a conclusion that these pills do not help in preventing the disease.
